This workshop has been organized to present the concept of connective tissue
(fascial) manipulation which has been the basis for much of the approach to
Rolfing. As our ideas have gained clarity, we realize that the connective tissue
concept can be of use in any kind of body work. The workshop will strive to
open a way of thinking and an approach to tissue. Ideally this will lead the
body worker to develop appropriate strategies, for conditions as they arise.
Some of the topics which will be considered are:
touch as it applies to fascia rather than bone or muscle
the use of the practitioner's body
fascia as a continuous organ which allows work in one part of the body to affect
other areas
body contour (evaluating and working with the condition of the underlying connective
tissue and its potential for movement).
body retinaculae (when and how do the “fascial structures”, i.e. bands, diagonals,
trains, cross-body pull, etc. serve to maintain balanced function or to reinforce
imbalance)
the use of intention as a tool.
There will demonstrations and hands-on work as space and time allow.
The workshop’s format is flexible. Please, contact us for further discussion.
